When Blood Work Looks “Normal” — But the Body Says Otherwise

Hello Wellness Warriors,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones well.

I often refer to you as Wellness Warriors because, in today’s world, true health often requires exactly that. Eating well, getting quality sleep, maintaining a positive mindset, exercising regularly—it all takes intention and effort.

And yet, every week I see new patients who do all of these things right and still struggle with unexplained symptoms.

Today, I want to talk about blood work—the so-called gold standard of modern medical care.

Countless times, patients come into my office with blood work that looks “OK” or even “very good.” Yet they are living with chronic, unresolved symptoms that do not correlate with what their labs show.

A Real Patient Case

Recently, a 61-year-old male patient came to see me. He has given me permission to share his story because he was, in his words, “blown away” by what we discovered.

His symptoms began in the spring of 2023, following COVID infection and vaccination. They included:

  • Extreme fatigue

  • Tingling and discoloration in the feet

  • Brain fog

  • Inability to exercise

  • Low back pain

  • Waking two to three times nightly to urinate

  • Hair loss and thinning

  • Weight loss

He brought in recent blood work, which was overall quite good, except for:

  • Elevated LDL (low-density lipoproteins)

  • Elevated total cholesterol

  • Very low Vitamin D

  • Low thyroid T4

Everything else fell within normal clinical ranges. His primary doctor—and two additional physicians—had no clear answers. He was eventually referred to an immunologist for further testing.

The Real Value of Applied Kinesiology (AK)

This is where Applied Kinesiology becomes invaluable. Applied Kinesiology allows the doctor to interact directly with the body and receive immediate biofeedback regarding its state of function. Through manual and energetic testing, I assess the organs and glands to identify functional imbalances—issues that often do not yet show up on blood work.

The body is super-intelligent and provides clear feedback when something is not functioning optimally.

Despite largely normal lab results, AK testing revealed energetic functional imbalances in the following areas:

  • Heart and circulation to the heart

  • Lungs

  • Parathyroid gland

  • Pineal gland

  • Prostate

  • Spleen

  • Testes

  • Thyroid gland

  • Bladder

This is what it means to go below the blood work—to identify root causes rather than chase symptoms. We are energetic beings living in physical bodies.

Integrating Technology & Clinical Insight

We then ran his blood work through www.sciencebasednutrition.com, which generated a comprehensive, systems-based report explaining his biomarkers and recommending whole-food supplements to support balance.

I further fine-tuned those recommendations—adjusting supplements and dosages based on AK findings—to deeply balance and optimize the affected systems. After six weeks on the customized, computer-guided, Dr. Karp-tweaked supplement protocol, he is feeling significantly better. He is amazed that after two and a half years of testing and multiple doctors, this was the first time the pieces truly came together. That is the value of Applied Kinesiology.

Healing Happens in Layers

He still has work to do—and that’s perfectly okay. The body heals in layers. There may be additional functional imbalances to clear as his system strengthens and stabilizes. The important thing is that he is now on the right path toward reclaiming his health and his life.

For completeness, I referred him to a cardiologist for further evaluation due to a high coronary calcium score, which will be appropriately monitored.
