When Everything Looks Normal… But You Still Don’t Feel Well

Hello Wellness Warriors,

Have you ever been told,

“Your blood work looks normal.”

“Your MRI is normal.”

“Your tests are normal.”

Yet deep inside, you know something isn’t right.

You’re exhausted.

Your digestion isn’t the same.

Your sleep has changed.

Your energy is gone.

You don’t feel like yourself.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

One of the greatest frustrations people experience is being told everything is “normal” while they continue to struggle every day.

Here’s something I’ve learned after more than 40 years of caring for patients:

Normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

Many medical tests are designed to detect disease—and they do that very well.

But long before disease develops, the body’s function can begin to decline.

An organ may not be working as efficiently.

The nervous system may be under constant stress.

Nutritional deficiencies may be quietly developing.

The body’s communication systems may no longer be functioning in harmony.

These functional changes can occur months—or even years—before they become obvious on standard testing.

That’s why I don’t just ask,

“What disease does this person have?”

I also ask,

“How well is this person’s body functioning?”

It’s a different question.

And often, it leads to different insights.

Remember,

Health isn’t about chasing symptoms. It’s about restoring function.

When we improve function, the body is often better able to adapt, repair, and do what it was designed to do—heal.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed because your tests were “normal,” don’t lose hope.

Keep searching for answers.

Keep listening to your body.

Because your body is always communicating.

And when we learn to understand its language, we can often take meaningful steps toward better health.

Until next Sunday, remember…

Your body is always trying to heal.

To your health,

Dr. Drew Karp, DC, FIAMA
